Guest Speaker, Leonard Leibovici, Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Microbiology and Infection, then gave an engaging discussion regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in infectious diseases research. He noted the change in both use and comfort regarding this “hot topic” of discussion, and highlighted the importance of communicating clearly to the machine what might be required, always considering the context that may be skewing the results found. Overall, the talk gave a key insight into the work Leonard and his team are doing, which includes over 200 projects using AI this year, and how we can further incorporate AI into infectious disease research.
