The University of Verona recently hosted an international webinar by Professor Karin Thursky, chaired by Professor Tacconelli. This webinar was organised alongside other lectures as part of the REVERSE project, all dedicated to Antimicrobial Stewardship implementation and bringing together leading experts to discuss both global and local antibiotic stewardship policies.

This interactive event featured a series of engaging lectures and projects presentations:

  • The event was opened with a webinar by Professor Karin Thursky, Director of the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Australia. She presented antibiotic stewardship activities in Australia and her webinar is available on the link below.

  • Secondly, the SAVE project (Stewardship and Antimicrobial Vigilance in Verona), which aims to improve the quality of care through decreasing the rate of inappropriate antibiotic prescription and the rates of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant organisms was introduced.

  • Dr. Walter Zingg from the University of Geneva then presented the REVERSE project, which aims to reduce unnecessary antimicrobial use across European healthcare settings.

  • After that, a dedicated session explored personalised prophylaxis strategies, particularly for immunocompromised patients and those undergoing abdominal surgery.

The insightful and content-rich webinar by Professor Karin Thursky, Director of the National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Australia, is now available on YouTube on the link below.
