The ID-CARE team gathered together for the 2025 Annual Reasearch Meeting on 18th December at Villa Quaranta, Settimo di Pescantina (Verona), Italy.

The meeting provided a great opportunity for the team to present and discuss the wide variety of research projects, trials and clinical research activities managed by the team, as well as outlining the roadmap for 2026. Additionally, this year the event hosted four international guests: Professor Matthieu Gregoire from the University of Nantes (France) and Professor José Ramón Paño-Pardo from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) as keynote speakers, Dr Karin Odoj and Dr. Diego Ortiz from the University of Tubingen (Germany) as international partners.
ID-CARE Director, Prof. Evelina Tacconelli, gave her opening speech presenting an overview of the activities from 2025 and opportunities for 2026, also welcoming the new team members who joined this year. After her opening speech, it was the time for the first keynote lecture given by Prof. José Ramón Paño-Pardo and entitled "Decision-making, behaviour change and AI antimicrobial stewardship". He explained why behaviour change is essential in antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) and why prescribing antibiotics is often prone to errors. Professor Paño-Pardo explored how clinical decision-making works and how behaviour change and implementation science can improve prescribing practices. Finally, he discussed how these principles can be integrated into AMS and the potential role of artificial intelligence.

After this insightful lecture, the event continued with the celebration of the ID-CARE's biggest achievements of 2025. Presentations covered not only epidemiological and pandemic preparedness projects, namely ORCHESTRA, VERDI, CoMeCT and ECRAID-Base where international partners Dr. Karin Odoj and Dr. Diego Ortiz contributed with two very interesting presentations. Clinical research activities were also presented, such as those carried out at MISTRA, as well as the SAVE, SAVE-EPI and REVERSE projects.
The second half of the event opened with a keynote lecture by Professor Matthieu Grégoire: "Antibiotic PK/PD in endocarditis: Challenges, insights, and innovation ahead": infective endocarditis is a serious heart infection that is still difficult to treat and can be life-threatening. Professor Grégoire explained how researchers are developing simple tools to better adjust antibiotic doses so treatments work more effectively and safely. He also presented new studies and digital tools which aim to personalize treatment and improve patient outcomes in the future.

Following the keynote lecture, the meeting was then dedicated to the presentation of all the ongoing projects and trials. Finally, it was the turn of all ID-CARE's fledgling projects to be presented: C.O.AC.H, PIPELINE, Be Ready Now, PROACT-EU Response, OPTICOV and STUPITA. The meeting ended with the Awards ceremony and a lovely group picture.

The ID-CARE UNIVR Team thanks all its members, partners and audience for their hard work this 2025, and wishes Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to everyone. We look forward to 2026!
