The official launch ceremony of the European funded project BE READY NOW took place earlier this week on 17 February 2026, at the Urban Station-Espace du Centenaire in Paris. Fulvia Mazzaferri, an ID-CARE medical doctor working on this project, attended in person representing the UNIVR team.

BE READY is a ten-year-long initiative, bringing together 74 partners from 27 European Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries alongside the European Commission to implement the European Partnership for Pandemic Preparedness.
This important event aimed to reflect on the foundations laid together by previous projects, namely BE READY and BE READY PLUS, since 2022, and to look ahead to the Partnership's major future initiatives. These preparatory projects also supported BE READY NOW’s alignment with the EU’s political priorities.
Participants also discussed the importance of BE READY NOW within the current global pandemic preparedness landscape, highlighting the projects main objectives:
Alignment with national research priorities and scientific expertise across participating countries through the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda;
Support to multinational research projects through Joint Transnational Calls;
Building an integrated ecosystem of research infrastructures and networks.
To conclude this key event, the integration of the partnership into the European Health Union and the Health Emergency Framework was also discussed, driving home the fact that the Be Ready partnership operates in close synergy with EU institutions and agencies responsible for prevention, preparedness, surveillance, risk assessment, and response.
