Last week, the UNIVR ID-CARE team attended the kick-off event for a brand-new project: PIPELINE (Pregnancy and Infant PrEparedness pLatform IN Europe).

PIPELINE is an EU-funded Reasearch & Innovation Action aiming to develop a dedicated pregnancy-infant preparedness platform for adaptive trials, to improve pandemic preparedness for these underserved populations. The project consortium met at the kick-off meeting, held both virtually and in person in the lovely city of Paris, to present and discuss the project goals under which the Work Packages (WPs) have been grouped.

Day 1 started with introductions from each partner’s team. After that, the PIPELINE Project Officer from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), Stella Skowronska, gave an insightful presentation on how to best project manage PIPELINE. It was then the turn for project partners to present the main objectives of this research project corresponding to specific work packages: Francesca Viero, part of the project coordinator Penta Foundation’s team, focused on Project Management, followed by Lizzie Chappel, from UCL, and Evelina Tacconelli, from UNIVR, presenting Objective 1 PIPELINE Platform (WP 1-2). After lunch the project’s partners regrouped for the second half of Day 1 when Objective 2 Network Strengthening and sustainability (WP 3) was presented by Patricia Bruijning-Verhagen from UMCU, followed by the presentation of Objective 3 RSV Trial (WP 5) by Anna Turkova from UCL. The last session of the day focused on Objective 4 Immunology (WP8) lead by Paolo Palma from UNITOV.

Day 2 began with the presentation of Objective 5 Dissemination, Exploitation, Communication (WP9) by Penta Foundation. The rest of the day was dedicated to more interactive sessions and workshops to set the ground for the upcoming months of research and activities.

The ID-CARE team are involved in Objective 1 in WP1 - Preparedness platform implementation and WP2 - Preparedness platform sustainability and in Objective 5 in WP9 - Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication.
