On 1–2 October 2026 ID-CARE Director, Prof. Evelina Tacconelli, joined colleagues in Rome for EuCARE’s Pandemic Preparedness Conference.

Over these two days, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers and project partners gathered to share scientific insights, reflect on lessons learned and discuss how the knowledge generated through EuCARE can contribute to stronger pandemic preparedness. From clinical research and Long COVID to vaccination, immunology, schools and public health resilience, the conference highlighted the importance of bringing science, collaboration and policy together.

The successful conference marked an important milestone in the project’s journey, featuring lectures by keynote speakers and an engaging roundtable session to which Prof. Tacconelli participated. She provided insight into the importance of coordination across European research efforts to enable and strengthen preparedness, drawing particular experiences from the ORCHESTRA and CoMeCT projects, and the Cohort Coordination Board.
